Surprise Surprise Surprise! The Republican Hawks secretly support Al-Qaeda! In a recent interview, Mitt Romney pulled a George Bush circa 2002 and adminitted that he's not really motivated to capture Osama Bin Laden:
In the interview, Romney also:
_Said the country would be safer by only "a small percentage" and would see "a very insignificant increase in safety" if al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was caught because another terrorist would rise to power. "It's not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person," Romney said.
Hmmmmm....I could have sworn I heard conservative propaganda in the President's State of the Union Address....
In the sixth year since our nation was attacked, I wish I could report to you that the dangers had ended. They have not. And so it remains the policy of this government to use every lawful and proper tool of intelligence, diplomacy, law enforcement, and military action to do our duty, to find these enemies, and to protect the American people. (Applause.)
This war is more than a clash of arms -- it is a decisive ideological struggle, and the security of our nation is in the balance.
So, there you have it: Despite that "the security of our nation is in the balance" in this "decisive ideological struggle"--despite that "it remains the policy of this government...to find these enemies", Mitt Romney can't be bothered!
Is that the kind of leader this country deserves?

Sadly, and despite his public pronouncements, we already know that Bush's own words ring hollow in comparison to his actions
"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01"I want justice...There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive,'"
- G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI"...Secondly, he is not escaping us. This is a guy, who, three months ago, was in control of a county [sic]. Now he's maybe in control of a cave. He's on the run. Listen, a while ago I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is we're going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that's what's happening. He's on the run, if he's running at all. So we don't know whether he's in cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open -- we just don't know...."
- Bush, in remarks in a Press Availablity with the Press Travel Pool,
The Prairie Chapel Ranch, Crawford TX, 12/28/01, as reported on
official White House site"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,
3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)
Since that time, though, there have been numerous attacks in which bin Laden has had a hand--not the least of which were the Bali bombing, the Madrid bombings, the London bombings and numerous incidents in Iraq.
And despite that the security of our nation hangs in the balance in this decisive ideological struggle, neither man can be bothered to do anything about it.

Of course, Giuliani is no better: just like Bush, Cheney, Rove and the rest of the hawkish neocons, Giuliani--in the face of the terror threat--is all too happy to carry the jihadists' water by playing the "terror" and "traitor" cards at every turn. Simply loathesome. Olberman gets it right.
Claim a difference between the parties on the voters' chances of survival — and you do Osama Bin Laden's work for him.And we — Democrats and Republicans alike, and every variation in between — We — Americans! — are sick to death, of you and the other terror-mongers, trying to frighten us into submission, into the surrender of our rights and our reason, into this betrayal of that for which this country has always stood."

Which party rode roughshod over Americans' rights while braying that it was actually protecting them, Mr. Giuliani?
Which party took this country into the most utterly backwards, utterly counter-productive, utterly ruinous war in our history, Mr. Giuliani?
Which party has been in office as more Americans were killed in the pointless fields of Iraq, than were killed in the consuming nightmare of 9/11, Mr. Giuliani?
Drop this argument, sir. You will lose it.See the video here.
While Giuliani doesn't have a color-coded alert system to instruct the public on their proper level of fear, he's all too happy to play to the worst paranoid instincts of the public for his personal gain or that of his party.
Whatta guy! Almost makes you proud to be an American....
