Bush and his cronies have done it again. If you go to the official governmental website for the office of the President, www.whitehouse.gov, and enter the following search terms in the upper right hand corner: "May 2003", you will be led to this page.
That page is, of course, the official record of the President's actions during that month. These items are ordered in reverse chronological order, so if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find the record for May 1, 2003, which was the day that Bush donned his codpiece and sat in the back of a jet while a military pilot landed the jet on the aircraft carrier, which had been conveniently delayed from returning to port for his appearance and which had turned around so that the background of his subsequent speech would not show the coastline.
Now, in this news entry, you will see a link to the video for that speech. The White House for some reason uses RealPlayer, which may mean that you will need to get the player and install it. (The free version of the player is on the right hand side of the page.)
If you view this video, you will notice something strange: the format of the video is too wide and thus a black space appears at the bottom. No, they aren't trying to use new HD technology. Instead, they have altered the video by cropping off the top portion of the image, which includes the "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner.
Compare the video to this photo (h/t to associatedcontent.com and L. Vincent Poupard:
If you aren't embarassed by this, you have no shame.
If you aren't outraged, you have no brain.
How stupid does this administration think you are?
